GYROTONIC® SESSIONS

By using the GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM®, specially designed to support the body in space, it supports and enhances the body’s freedom of movement, including decompression of the spine. Barbara has also received specialized training to work with clients who have Osteoporosis and Osteopenia.

These supported movements, coupled with individualized “hands on” direction, are fluid and three dimensional. This allows muscles and joints to find a deep, subtle organic strength.

The GYROTONIC® EXPANSION SYSTEM® also utilizes weights and pulleys to provide mild resistance to strengthen joints where most injuries occur. After a GYROTONIC® session clients find themselves with increased freedom of movement, greater core strength, relief from lower back pain, and more agility.

Athletes improve performance. Rehabilitation clients recover more quickly after an injury.

HOW IS GYROTONIC® DIFFERENT?

Yoga poses stretch and extend muscles, then remain static to deepen the stretch and pose.

While many GYROTONIC® movements are inspired by Yoga, they are not static. Rather they move spherically using three dimensional, spiraling movements. Often described like swimming without water.

Pilates, Yoga and Gyrotonic all focus on the mind body connection. But Pilates uses 90° movements and focuses on one muscle group at a time.

GYROTONIC® movements are 360°, circular, and spiraling, requiring syncing your breath with the movement. Movements are initiated from deep core muscles for a total body, connected work out.
